Affordable Designer Fashions

July 13th, 2009

Today all we see splashed all over the internet, magazines and television are visions of famous people like Paris, Britney, and Lindsay carrying the hottest designer bags and wearing the best clothes and shoes. While Paris and Britney and Lindsay probably get a lot of their clothing, handbags and shoes for free from the designers just so they’ll wear them (there isn’t any better advertising for a designer),you and I have to pay $1000 for that BE&D handbag that they carry, and those Tag jeans worn by Jessica Simpson will cost you at least $200.

If you desire to carry a designer handbag but can’t handle the cost the place for you to visit is Bag, Borrow or Steal. They have wide array of designer handbags which they rent out monthly, or for however long you want. You can choose handbags from dozens of top designers such as Dooney & Bourke, Perlina, Salvatore Ferragamo, Louis Vuitton and Chanel. These bags are guaranteed to arrive to you in like new condition, and you decide how long you carry it. Just like Lindsay and Paris and Britney you can carry the designer bag of your dreams. Imagine how envious your friends will be when they see you carrying a Fendi bag one month and a Yves Saint Laurent bag the next.

Another thing to remember is that there are plenty of clothing options out there that are reasonably priced and just as fashionable as their high-priced designer label counterparts. If you have the pocketbook to shop at eluxury that’s a wonderful thing, but if you don’t there are lots of alternatives for you.

Stores such as Carabella, Lew Magram, Avenue and Monterey Bay have wonderful women’s fashions for a fraction of the cost of high-end designers. A fairly recent arrival on the fashion scene is the House of Dereon. The fashions from the House of Dereon are classic and multi-generational. Their fashions would look good on any 20-something, 30-something, 40-something and even on a fashionable 50-something.

Build Your Fall Wardrobe On A Budget

July 10th, 2009

Wouldn’t it be grand if we had endless funds to spruce up our
fall wardrobe? Well most of us don’t but not to worry. Here’s
some help to build your fall wardrobe on a budget.

First off forget the designe names. Yes they’re great if you can
afford them but if not take their ideas and then go shopping.
There are plenty of similar after market designs that are very
close and won’t break the bank.

Items such as blue jeans, pheasant skirts, v necks, and wool
sweaters can be purchased without the designer name. Also watch
for some great sales as the stores begin to already bring in
their winter stock. This time of year you can save anywhere from
30% to 50%.

Looking fresh and stylish is important and when you get to save
good money you don’t feel so bad about tossing an item that’s
starting to show its wear.

You can also save plenty on shoes by watching for sale or
shopping at a shoe warehouse. The shoe warehouses have plenty of
style choices you just might have to hunt a little bit to find
your size. Well worth the time for the savings!

Most important is fit and comfort, and of course you need to be
certain they’ll work with your wardrobe. This season the wedge
continues in popularity. Slip ons are also still very popular
and we are seeing imitation fur linings this season. Nice and
cozy and still very classy! If you shop carefully you can add
several pair for the price of one pair of designer shoes.

Lastly you can save a whole lot of money on your jewelry.
Costume jewelry is affordable and the selection is great. If you
stick to costume jewelry you can buy pieces for the fall season
and not feel bad because you spent too much and they are out of
style by next year.

There are many good online store with very reasonable prices.
Don’t forget to have a hunt through your old jewelry as well -
you might be surprised at what you find that has made it back
into style. Large clunky jewelry continues to be instyle as well
as wood and bone jewelry. Color is making a big statement this
year. Bold is beautiful this season!

If you need to get some ideas for the spring season - this
months women’s magazines have some great articles and examples.
Vogue, Elle, and In Style are all full of excellent fashion
pages.

So don’t fret, you can look like a million dollars on a shoe
string budget with a little creativity and hunting! Make your
fashion statement

Can I Lower My Cholesterol Without Drugs?

July 8th, 2009

It’s been 20 years since I completed the Ironman Triathlon. Now my Olympic dreams have given way to the nightmare of paying for my kids education. Still, I workout regularly, eat well and almost fit into the jeans I wore in the ’80s. So…

How Could I Possibly Have A Cholesterol Problem?

Since I’m your doctor, I’m a little embarrassed to reveal my cholesterol numbers. But if we’re going to beat it together-here they are:

Â?My total cholesterol is 213 (not terrible, since the goal for total cholesterol is below 200).
Â?My LDL (low density aka bad cholesterol) is 155. The ideal for bad cholesterol is below 130 (100 if you have heart problems). LDL, cholesterol’s evil step brother, got its bad reputation by filling your arteries with fat causing high blood pressure, heart attacks, strokes and dementia. The LDL may be the single most important number we measure.
Â?My HDL (good cholesterol) is 55. HDL should stay over 45 for men and 55 for women. The higher the better since HDLs remove the fatty plaques from your arteries and brings them to the liver for elimination

The ratio of total cholesterol to HDL is important to measure. It tells us the amount of fatty material floating around in comparison to the amount being removed. The ideal ratio is 3.5 or less. So if my HDL is 55, to have an ideal cholesterol to HDL ratio of 3.5, my total cholesterol has to be 192 or less (your HDL x 3.5 = the highest total cholesterol you can have and still be ideal.) Try it out…plug in your HDL, multiply it by 3.5 and see if your cholesterol is out of balance.

All Men May Be Created Equal, But All Fats Aren’t

The leading causes of death in the U.S. are heart attacks, cancer and strokes. These diseases all have one thing in common; they are all related to the type of fat we eat. Notice that I didn’t say the amount of fat. That’s not nearly as important (although obesity is!).

Some fats actually improve our health. They correct our cholesterol balance, prevent heart attacks, reduce the chance of stroke and prevent inflammatory diseases such as Rheumatoid Arthritis.

You’ll spot the good fats. They’re liquid at room temperature and consist of:

Â?Monounsaturated Oils like olive oil, canola oil, oils derived from nuts and avocados.
Â?Polyunsaturated Oils like corn, soybean, and safflower oils and fish.

Some Fats Aren’t So Good. They’re solid in room temperature and are called:

Â?Saturated Fats. They’re found in whole milk, red meat, chicken skin, butter, cheese, chocolate and even coconuts. Basically, milk products and meat contain saturated fats. They raise both good and bad cholesterols, but hurt the proper cholesterol/HDL ratio.

Some of us have to be more careful than others since 75% of our cholesterol is manufactured by the liver. In other words, if you’ve got the bad cholesterol genes and your liver continually pumps out cholesterol, you need to act on this newsletter. Others can just pass it on to those who aren’t so blessed.

The Most Evil Fat of All is:

Â?Man made and prematurely ages and kills thousands of people every year.
Â?Not safe in any amount to anyone (Institute of Medicine).
Â?Responsible for Significantly Raising our Bad Cholesterol While Lowering Our Good Cholesterol.
Â?So unhealthy that even bacteria and mold won’t grow on it.

They are called Trans Fats

These are fake, man made fats. They started as real oils but were heated then cooled until they became solid. This process is called hydrogenation (because it adds hydrogen). You know who they are; they’re the fried foods, fast foods, commercial packaged baked goods, margarine, vegetable shortening and all products that say “hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated” in the ingredients.

You’ll see them all over packaged foods because they never die or go bad. They nearly last forever, since mold and bacteria won’t even grow on them. Nothing will!

In fact, The Nurses’ Health Study found when they replaced only 30 calories of carbohydrates with 30 calories of trans fats the risk of heart disease nearly doubled. When they replaced 80 calories of carbohydrates with 80 calories of either polyunsaturated or monounsaturated fats (the good fats), your chance of heart disease dropped by 30 to 40 percent. THAT’S A BIG HEALTH GAIN WITH LESS THAN 100 CALORIES OF DIET CHANGE!

Let’s put it another way…

By replacing that glob of margarine with olive oil, you’ll lower your chance of heart disease by one-third.

Is it worth it?

This is so important that in January 2006, a law requiring all food packaging to state whether it contains trans fats goes into effect.

To summarize, fats can be either liquid or solid at room temperature. Always choose liquids, they are the good fats. Fats that are solid at room temperature should be avoided. When cooking with oil, stir fry…don’t deep fry.

If you need to buy foods with trans fats, make sure they are listed as low as possible on the ingredient list. The higher on the list, the more in the food.

Is There Anything I Can Take, Naturally, To Balance My Cholesterol?

There appears to be three or four effective products worthy of a try, such as:

Garlic: While there is disagreement in the literature, the garlic that hasn’t had its odor removed (wild garlic) may lower your total cholesterol, bad cholesterol and triglycerides (circulating blood fat) about 10%.

Fish Oil: An abundant quantity of research seems to conclude that 1-2 grams of a fish oil supplement per day reduces your chance of a heart attack and stroke by preventing dangerous, irregular heart rhythms, thinning the blood, lowering triglycerides and preventing inflammation. In fact, one large trial found that by taking just 1 gram per day of fish oil over a 3.5 year period reduced the risk of dying from heart disease by 25 percent in those who already survived one heart attack. While it significantly lowered triglycerides, it seemed to slightly raise bad cholesterol.

Since women’s hearts are especially sensitive to high triglycerides. Those whose levels are high may benefit from taking 4 g/day of fish oil. Adding apple pectin (a type of fiber) to the fish oil seems to increase its triglyceride lowering ability even further. Flax seed oil, also an Omega 3 fatty acid (like fish oil), doesn’t seem to lower triglyceride levels.

So make sure it’s fish oil not just Omega 3 Fatty Acids.
Niacin: (Nicotinic acid) Lowers bad and total cholesterol and raises good cholesterol. It also can lower triglycerides. Unfortunately the dose needed for treatment is about 100 times more than the Recommended Daily Allowance and can potentially be toxic, especially to your liver. It should be considered a medication and taken only under your doctor’s directions if the other natural alternatives weren’t effective or appropriate.
Plant Sterols and Stanols: These plant products are added to some margarines and prevent the absorption of cholesterol in our intestines. In daily use, it has consistently lowered bad cholesterol about 10%.3,7 So far it does not appear to have long term negative effects. Life long use is predicted to result in a 20% decrease in coronary events.

But, The Best Is Saved For Last

Policosanol: A sugar cane derivative that lowers total cholesterol by 16% to 21%, bad cholesterol by 21% to 29% and raises good cholesterol by 8% to 15%. Although it’s triglyceride lowering effects have not been consistent, other cardiac benefits such as the prevention of clots and the dangerous oxidation of bad cholesterol have been demonstrated. Three year follow-ups have not shown negative side effects. 10-20 mg/day seems to be just as beneficial as higher doses.

Standard pharmaceutical treatments today include Statin Drugs, such as:
Â? Mevacor
Â? Zocor and
Â? Pravachol

They work by interfering with the liver’s ability to produce cholesterol and increasing its ability to remove cholesterol from the blood. Although statins can lower LDL cholesterol by as much as 60 percent, they can also damage the liver and, in rare incidences, cause a serious or deadly illness.
But, there’s good news. The chances of dying from the three leading causes of death (coronary vascular, cancer and strokes) are largely under your control.

Don’t Tell Me These Three Steps Are Too Hard…

1. Test your cholesterol (good, bad and total) and triglycerides

2. Watch the type of fats you eat.
o Eat fats that are oils at room temperature
o Moderately limit meat and dairy fats
o Severely limit margarine, fried foods and packaged food with the word “hydrogenated” in the ingredients.

3. If your cholesterol or triglycerides are elevated or out of balance, talk to us about whether you are a candidate for natural treatments. They can be very effective and may prevent the need for medications. Sometimes medications are necessary but the supplements may allow you to take a lower dose.

How not to Dress – 10 Common Fashion Mistakes to Avoid! Part 1

July 6th, 2009

There are many fashion mistakes here we will outline 10 of the most common ones.

Many of the mistakes are made simply because women want to follow every fashion and of course, every trend does not suit everyone.

Anyone can present a stylish, classic, chic and fashionable look, but first letâ??s look at 10 common fashion mistakes which you should definitely avoid.

1. Your clothes are not the right size.

Wearing baggy clothes will simply make you look fatter and so do clothes that are too small they simply highlight bulges and can make you look un appealing and stupid.

Buy the size you truly are and not the size you would like to be.

2. Wrinkled Garments

A great suit or dress needs to be wrinkle-free and ironed for you to look your best, buy clothes that are easy to care for and don’t wrinkle easily, if you donâ??t have much time.

3. Fashion trends that donâ??t suit you.

Keep in mind your figure and age and only wear items you look good in and not just something because it looks great on someone else.

Face the reality!

For example, if short skirts are the latest fashion trend in womenâ??s clothing and you donâ??t have great legs pass it by.

There are numerous fashions and stylish looks and there is one to suit you â?? You donâ??t have to follow every fashion because you have seen a celebrity wear it or seen it a fashion show â?? Be sensible!

4. Showing bra & panty lines.

Wear proper fitting undergarments.

If they do fit you correctly and you can see lines, then your clothes are simply too tight.

Donâ??t wear any dress size that is too small, you are simply deceiving yourself about your true size.

Keep your bra straps properly adjusted so they’re not visible

If your jeans and trousers are low-rise, your panties should be too although it has become fashionable to show your panties, this look wont last.

6. Wearing skirts that are simply to short

Donâ??t wear a skirt or dress that is too short.

Make sure you can sit, walk and dance without exposing knickers â?? Sure there is nothing wrong with short skirts that make you look sexy but there is a big difference between being sexy and simply looking tacky.

7. Too many Colors.

A common fashion mistake is using too many colors.

As a general rule wear up to a maximum of three, to be easy on the eye. Too many colors simply will make you look a mess and look like you donâ??t have any idea of co ordination.

8. Too many prints.

Don’t try to mix and match prints as it will have a similar effect to the above.

Patterns don’t look good on all women.

If you’re one of those people that look great in most clothes, choose a pattern on the top or bottom but not in both areas.

Keep in mind with womenâ??s style with colors and prints less is definitely more.

9. Using accessories in correctly.

Finish off with accessories by all means but again less is more. There accessories and should not

overpower and highlight your good points.

For example with necklaces - Short chains and chokers tend to make your neck appear larger, so donâ??t do it if this is a an area you donâ??t want to draw attention to.

If you are going out in evening wear make sure your handbag is sleek, sharp and small a big bag with typical evening wear simply does not go!

Use accessories that match you look and also be careful they highlight good points and donâ??t draw attention to bad points.

10. Clothing & Shoes

As a general rule keep your clothing and shoes the same color.

The only exception is with black which goes with just about everything

Don’t ever make the mistake of matching light and dark colors, for example dark clothes and light shoes.

Many of the above fashion looks are obvious and some may not be but they are made frequently by many women and this is mainly due to them being either slaves to fashion and not accepting their age or dress size.

In part 2 we will look at fashions and clothes that will look good on anyone, but for now the above 10 looks should be avoided at all costs.

Juicy Couture – Up Close and Personal

July 3rd, 2009

Juicy Couture was started as a trendy “girlie” style of clothing. Finding the right clothing to wear can be difficult and, being avid shoppers, Pam and Gela decided to do something about it. They assumed that other women would love to wear what they loved to wear, so they founded Juicy Couture.

Their goal was to make clothes that were both comfortable and stylish. Juicy Couture has been a leader in the fashion world since the beginning. Juicy Couture has also featured maternity clothing, incorporating jeans and t-shirts into the maternity line.

The spotlight moved more to womenâ??s clothing as the business expanded. Womenâ??s clothing became the main focus as the business grew. At the time, the company focused on sports apparel for women.

The parent company of this line of clothing is Liz Claiborne. Juicy Couture is well known for its tracksuits sewn from velour and terrycloth fabric. Terrycloth and leather handbags are also available.

Many famous celebrities like to show off the Juicy Couture line of apparel. Much of their fashion is tagged with a slogan that plays upon their name. Their slogans include such catch phrases as “Be Juicy,” and “Wake Up And Smell the Couture.”

Juicy Couture was sued by the Proctor and Gamble Corporation for using the phrase “Love P&G” to market their apparel, so they swapped the letters around in order to move forward. The phrase is now known as “Love G&P.”

The company expanded to encompass clothing for men, children, and babies. Expanding even further, now even socks and diaper bags are available. For you canine lovers, the company has expanded into canine country. They market a wide variety of merchandise for the canine in your life from leashes and collars to toys and outfits for any occasion. Quite a collection, isn’t it?

In their contemporary women’s clothing line, they offer linen dresses with three-quarter sleeves and sundresses that show off shoulders and neck. Even after being washed several times, the custom made tracksuits look and feel like new. The clothing’s colors are the driving force behind their popularity with women.

The handbags that they carry are extremely fashionable. Mint, light blue, and flamingo are just a few of the colors in which they are available. Your essentials like keys, cell and other items can be put where they have plenty of compartments.

All of their items are made with high quality cloth and nothing is made poorly. High-quality materials are used for all their merchandise. The materials used have bold colors, setting them apart and placing them on another level in the fashion pyramid. Gold, brass, and silver buckles make their bags stand out. They are just different from anything people have ever looked at, and that is another reason why they stand out.

The Juicy Couture product appeals to an eclectic array of customers, and they are constantly pushing limits in their designs and ideas.

Sexy Lingerie - Why Every Woman Needs Some

July 1st, 2009

Sexy lingerie is a must-have for every woman’s wardrobe. Married, single, dating. It doesn’t matter. Erotic lingerie’s just what you need to spice up your love life or just help you unleash your inner love goddess. Wearing sexy lingerie will make you feel fantastic, even when you wear it under a t-shirt and jeans. Consider it an essential, just like socks and shoes. To feel like a real w-o-m-a-n, just slip into sexy lingerie. UK erotic lingerie stores seem to offer a wider choice - perhaps the weather means people spend more time in the bedroom!

Not going to Greece or Barbados this holiday? Exotic womens lingerie will make you feel like you’ve been sunning on the beaches of Santorini, even if you never leave the UK. Feeling a bit stuck in a suburban lifestyle rut? Release the intercontinental goddess within when you wear exotic lingerie. Great lingerie lets you be whoever you want to be. Have fun with it!

It goes without saying that intimate apparel is a must-have for special occasions. Anniversaries, birthdays, and, of course, Valentine’s Day all call for erotic lingerie. Wearing seductive lingerie for that special someone is a gift in and of itself. You can even color coordinate for the occasion. Red and pink says “I’m your Valentine!” How about lucky green for St. Patrick’s Day?

Erotic lingerie isn’t just for special occasions, though. Surprise your significant other by sliding into some see through lingerie in the middle of a boring work week. See through lingerie has just the right “tease factor.” Intimate apparel is all you need to beat the midweek doldrums.

Really spice things up, and break out of your routine, by surprising that special someone with a morning or lunch time (only private lunches, of course!) appearance in lingerie. The element of surprise makes sexy lingerie even sexier.

Who says dressing up is only for Halloween? There are eleven other months in the year just waiting to be filled with fun. Get some themed lingerie and bring out the sexier side of a fantasy career. Even better, make your husband or boyfriend’s wildest fantasy come true. Naughty nurse? Flirtatious French maid? Look no further!

You can wear sexy lingerie just for yourself. It’ll be your little secret, one that’ll keep you smiling no matter what the day throws your way. You’ll feel sexy all day long, with a seductive spark that will drive the men wild. The fun part? They won’t even know why! They’ll be fighting over who gets to hold open the door for you and give up their seats on the subway.

Believe it or not, exotic womens lingerie can also be practical. With a low-cut top or slinky dress, a regular bra just won’t work. Visible panty lines will ruin any ensemble. So perhaps you’ve been searching for just the right undergarments to complete your new outfit. Online erotic lingerie stores in the UK carry the bustiers, camisoles, g-strings, and thongs that will complete-not detract from-your ensemble.

Lingerie isn’t just for the bedroom. It can be your secret fashion accessory to keep you looking fabulous. Need a bit of helping filling out a fitted top? Buy a bustier or bra with a bit of a “boost.” Pretty, lacey camisoles are perfect for layering. Pair one with a sweater for feminine touch.

Granted, flannel pajamas are warm and comfortable. But how about sliding into bed wearing a satin nightie? Drift off to dreamland feeling like a true sleeping beauty. After all, who says you can’t feel fabulous 24 hours a day? Going to sleep next to his lady clad in exotic womens lingerie is sure to sure drive your man wild!

There’s no “flash in the pan” trends in the world of lingerie. When you buy high-quality pieces, you’re buying something you can wear for years to come. Unlike platform shoes or mini-skirts, a sexy, classic bustier will never go out of style.

Have you ever thought to yourself, “I’m just not the lingerie type”? Guess again! Every woman is the lingerie type. It’s just a matter of finding the lingerie that makes you feel beautiful and desirable. For instance, some women will feel like a tantalizing temptress in see through lingerie. Others will feel their sexiest in something a bit less revealing. Or, perhaps, something even more revealing! Browse through an online erotic lingerie store and get started.

Let’s go! You’re ready to take the plunge into the seductive world of intimate apparel. Erotic lingerie, exotic lingerie, see through lingerie-the beauty of intimate apparel is that there’s something to suit every taste. There’s a countless variety of colors and styles. Experiment until you find the piece (or pieces!) of intimate apparel that make you feel fantastic.

A great erotic lingerie store has everything you need to fill all of your lingerie needs. Whether you’re a born wild child or simply waiting to release your inner tigress, you’ve got to have sexy lingerie - and plenty of it!

Hip Hop World Domination

June 29th, 2009

What’s the first thing that comes into your mind when you hear the word “Hip Hop”? The first thing that anyone would think about when they hear the word hip hop is music and guys wearing baggy pants and shirts, with shiny big things around their necks, ears, and hands. Hip hop music has brought many changes in fashion trends, particularly with clothes.

Back in the 70’s and 80’s, baggy pants, oversized athletic jerseys, sneakers, and oversized accessories called the “Bling-blings” are the most common thing that the fans of the hip hop culture are sporting. These things was sort of a uniform for them because you’ll clearly see them walking down the streets, wearing those oversized clothes, oversized name tags made of gold dangling from a necklace that looks more like a chain and oversized earrings. Now although hip hop generation were founded by American-Africans, it soon traveled all over the world, across every country and every place.

Some branded clothing line manufacturers had taken this hip hop thing very seriously, which added to the hip hop culture’s popularity. Bright tracksuits, leather bomber jackets and sneakers were now being manufactured by big brands in the business.

Hip hop in the 80’s and 90’s still retained its baggy and oversized shirts and accessories. The only thing that added to its trend is vivid hairstyles and looks. Different types of braided hairdos and dreadlocks have taken over the scene.

Today, many hip hop artists and executives started their own fashion labels and clothing lines. This includes sean john combs and his sean john clothing, Beyonce and her dereon, Damon Dash and Jay-Z and their rocawear, Nelly and his apple bottoms, 50 Cent and his G-Unit Clothing, Eminem and his Shady Limited, 2Pac and his Makaveli, OutKast and their OutKast Clothing, and many more.

Hip hop’s popularity way back in the 1990’s was primarily the work of sean john combs, or locally known around New York at that time as the “Shiny Suit Man”. Sean John brought elements such as loud, flashy PVC aviator inspired suits and platinum jewelry to the forefront of hip hop in an effort to add a new vivid dimension of color and flash to the videos produced as a marketing tool.

After this, sean john started his own clothing line which he called the sean john clothing. There was a resurgence of traditional African-American hairstyles such as cornrows and Afros, as well as the Caesar low-cut.

This era also saw the split of hip hop fashion between the men and the women, which had previously been more or less similar. Wearing tighter jeans such as those from the house of dereon and apple bottoms collections of jeans are the current trends in female hip hop fashion.

Today, Hip hop clothing is now produced by popular and successful designers such as sean john, Beyonce, or Nelly, who charge significant amounts for their products. Hip hop fashion is the now the most popular culture of all, worn by a significant percentage of young people around the world, with a significant number of retailers that are dedicated to the sale of hip hop inspired fashions.

Here is a list of popular hip hop fashion clothing lines that are currently making a buzz in the world of fashion clothing.

Sean John
Music mogul sean john combs, has created a fashion empire with his urban fashion sense. Through the success of sean john clothing, Combs has gained recognition through the traditional fashion industry with their urban clothing lines. Clothing collection of sean john has urban clothing ranging from jeans, hats, shirts, wovens, socks, jackets, and now suits.

Apple Bottoms
The unique clothing line founded by Nelly is a clothing line that caters to females of all shapes and sizes who are trendy and fashion forward. The apple bottoms is a clothing line that specializes in providing a way for plus sized women to finally be free and to feel the natural curves of a woman’s body. The clothing collection within the apple bottoms has grown from an original denim collection to include a variety of clothing styles that include mini skirts, jackets, sweat suits and an array of tops that are flexible and offer the customer a variety of choices.

House of Dereon
The house of dereon was specifically made to be worn by the women. Founded by Beyonce Knowles together with her sister Solange Knowles and mother Tina Knowles, the house of dereon is known for accentuating the womanly curves from neck to toe. Exquisite detail paired with passionate attitude makes this collection the must have fashion brand.

Rocawear
The rocawear clothing lines is an urban clothing label created in 1995 by Jay-Z and Damon Dash. Jay-Z, being the head of the hip hop label Roc-a-Fella Records, has conceptualized the idea of the rocawear to fit in nicely in the world of hip hop fashion and trends.

Akademiks
Akademiks created denim with a street twist that is still apparent, but they now offer an entire line of urban clothing. That line has now grown to include a women’s line, endorsed by R&B songstress Keyshia Cole. By remaining authentic and genuine to the hip hop lifestyle, they have become a major hip hop clothing brand. The women’s line is huge, including everything from jeans and capris to tank tops, jackets and shirts.

Phat Farm
The Phat Farm brand marvel took off when fans saw their favorite hip hop artists swaying away in their videos putting some Phat Farm on. That’s all that the fans needed to know what Phat Farm is and well, ever since then, Phat Farm clothing has been bangin its way to the top of the hip hop fashion world.

G-unit
G unit clothing label was founded by hip-hop superstar 50 Cent. Back in 2003, 50 Cent teamed up with Marc Ecko, the acclaimed designer and founder of Ecko Unlimited, to create the G Unit Clothing Company. Today, G Unit is one of the best selling brands in hip hop genre. We all know 50 Cent, and love his music. So why not to wear the clothes he helped to design?

Selecting The Perfect Fragrance From The Award Winning Assortment

This is again another tough task - especially when it comes to selection of the right kind of perfume from amongst the award-winning assortment. There are as many award winning brands of perfumes and fragrances, as there are flops. This, however, makes the general mass of perfume lovers gripped in the total confusion.

The Fragrance Foundation has been announcing the commercially successful brands in the industry as the winner for years. The Foundation has also taken steps to announce the bests insofar the Retail Innovation and Interior Scent Collection for a particular year is concerned. “OSCARS” had been declared to the winner the Fragrance Foundation FiFi Award in the year 2004, while the other very successful name “BURBERRY BRIT” had also won an award for its sky touch demand in the world market. Mr. Donald Loftus - the president and CEO of Cosmopolitan Cosmetics, had also picked up an award for its aesthetic men fragrance, “GUCCI POUR HOMME” in the year 2004. In the same year another company, Chanel had also been awarded for its superb creation, “CHANCE” for the women. Some of the other names to get the honor of fragrance of the year 2004 were “NARCISO RODRIGUEZ”, “PURE TRIFFANY”, “FLOWER”, “ILLUSION” and etc among the women line and “VERY SEXY FOR HIM-2″, “MEN’S — DUNHILL”, “ADIDAS ADRENALINE”, “PURPLE LABEL” and etc. among the men’s line. It is, however, very clear that the selecting the best out of the lot is too tough, as every single name in the list has marked an unique path breaking success story.

Two more FiFi Award winners among the fabulous women’s line of fragrances are “WHITE DIAMOND” developed by Elizabeth Taylor and “WHITE LINEN” developed by Estee Lauder. Although failed to win the Fragrance Foundation FiFi Award, yet the names like “BEYOND PARADISE”, “RALPH LAUREN BLUE”, “SICILY”, “STELLA”, “WISH”, “WHITE JEANS” AND “WINGS FOR WOMEN” are equally remarkable. “COLONIA” by Aqua Di Pharma, is another classic name that have always enticed the male perfume lovers all over the world by retaining the strength of the awesome masculine fervor in its unique notes.

Other brands that have established superb dominion in the market are Boss, Bvlgari, Carolina Herrera, Calvin Klien, Davidoff, Dolce & Gabbana, Elizabeth Arden, Firmenich, Giorgio Armani, Hugo Boss, La Perla, and etc. These brands have come up with the wide range award winning and equivalent fragrances in front of the fashionable section of the world. You are also allowed to select from the classical range of aesthetic fragrances developed by the world’s top ranking brands like Issey Miyake, Clinique and DKYN & Lancome.

Keeping Your New Year’s Resolutions… And Your Sanity

June 24th, 2009

Simply put: holidays are a time of indulgence. We eat more food, buy more stuff, see more people. It’s easy to get caught up in the snowflakes and tinsel and make somewhat unrealistic New Year’s resolutions only to become so frustrated that we put away our resolutions along with our fruitcakes and mistletoe and only bring them back out when the next New Year rolls around.

The “holiday spirit” is an elusive beast, spreading goodwill and festivities for only a short while. Once he flees, we’re often left only with the guilt of overindulgence, too much eggnog, and a lofty plan to really change for the better this year.

But how do you make it from Point A (the current reality of a somewhat post-jolly state) to Point B (the next New Year with last year’s resolutions neatly checked off one by one)?

Think of your resolutions as a year-long to do list. Buy a calendar and write reminders and motivations for each of your tasks. You don’t have to tackle them all at once, but you don’t want to have to add more to the list halfway through, so you work smarter. Just make sure the goals you set are realistic or you will get frustrated and call it quits.

Now let’s take a look at some typical resolutions and valuable resources that can help you stick with it. Because we all know that this year will be the year that you keep those resolutions.

1)Lose Weight and Get in Shape! Remember to celebrate your progress throughout the year. You will stay encouraged if you realize the small victories as well as the large ones. Here are some (free) online publications that can help:

2)Read More. Read Better. You don’t have to pay for newspaper or magazine subscriptions when you can read these items for free online. Some suggestions:

3)Volunteer to Help Those Less Fortunate. Throughout the holidays the media bombards us with stories of the poor and hungry and for a few fleeting weeks these people are on our hearts and minds. Remember that people are in need all year long, not just when it’s convenient to think about them.

4)Knock the Wardrobe Up a Notch. Let’s face it; those stone-washed, pleated, tapered-leg jeans just aren’t as hip as they used to be and that size 2 skirt in the back of your closet isn’t getting any bigger. Don’t be afraid to do some tossing (a good rule of thumb: if you haven’t worn it in a year, get rid of it) or if the clothes are in good condition, donate them to Goodwill or a local charity (find a Goodwill near you: http://locator.goodwill.org).

5)Fall in Love. Books have been written, movies have been made, wars have been fought. Enough said.

True, it’s hard stay motivated when facing 365 days of trials and tribulations. But with the right resources and some willpower, you can at least hope to set attainable, realistic goals.

Now hop to it! You’re keeping those resolutions, remember?
